Museum of archeology Valletta: Group work: Part 4

MODEL MAKING

We started building up the model scale 1:25 using Mount board and lots of glue :)

We started by cutting out the walls and arcs found in the museum. Till now the techniques we used were cutting, scoring and joining using glue. We didn't stick anything to the base yet because of the wiring for lights which will be inserted later on. At this stage we didn't connect the rooms together we built the rooms separately having each wall and arc cut out, making sure everything connects.

  1. I would make use of thicker material, eg. foamboard, in order to simulate the real thickness of the walls at a scale 1:25.

  2. We used Mount board as it is easier to cut straight especially for the arcs it would have been impossible to cut such small arcs with foam board since it is our first Model we are doing :). when i tried using foam board for my test pieces the foam started to come out when cutting curves.

  3. Ah ok! The only problem with 1.5mm mounting board is that it is too thin to stay rigid when spanning large areas. However, I could understand how you managed to solve the wall thickness problem. Good luck!
